Di Barat, tiap tanggal 1 April diperingati hari “April Mop.” Sedangkan di Indonesia, di berbagai kota besar, tak jarang kaula muda Muslim latah mengikuti tradisi April Mop. Pada hari itu, mereka diperbolehkan dan sah-sah saja menipu teman, mengisengi kawan, ngerjain guru, ngusilin orang tua, membohongi saudara, atau yang sejenisnya, di mana sang target tidak boleh marah atau emosi ketika sadar bahwa dirinya telah menjadi sasaran April Mop. Biasanya, jika sang target April Mop sudah sadar bahwa dirinya dijadikan target April Mop, mereka juga akan tertawa atau minimal mengumpat sebal, tapi tidak akan marah sungguhan. Seolah-olah 1 April adalah hari di mana keisengan dan kebohongan harus berjalan sempurna dan akurat, zero tolerance bagi kesalahan.
